Prinsjesdag auctions five Vagabond de la Pomme foals and a Toulon son out of half-sister Vagabond

Vagabond de la Pomme belongs to the absolute world top under the French rider Pénélope Leprévost. In addition to his own exceptional performances, his offspring are also doing very well and Vagabond is excellently bred. Foal Auction Prinsjesdag is auctioning five foals by Vagabond de la Pomme and the colt Tivoli Z (Toulon x Nabab de Rêve) bred out of Vagabond's half-sister.

With world champion Vigo d'Arsouilles as sire and the international Grand Prix show jumping mare Sauterelle de la Pomme (For Pleasure x Darco) as dam, both the sporting and breeding achievements of Vagabond de la Pomme were inevitable. With Pénélope Leprévost, Vagabond took second in the 2015 World Cup Final in Las Vegas, second in the five-star Basel Grand Prix and also third in the Chantilly GP and the Paris GP.

On Tuesday 13 September in Ermelo, Foal Auction Prinsjesdag will auction five Vagabond de la Pomme colts, namely Vuvuzela Z (ds. Cambridge), Le Vagabond W (ds. Emilion), L'Chaim (ds. Gentleman), Leonidas van de Crumelhaeve (pls. Sam R) and lammtarra (pl. Untouchable Z).

Also the colt foal Tivoli Z (Toulon x Nabab de Rêve) deserves your attention. This particularly appealing colt is bred out of the mare Hermione de la Pomme, who jumps internationally successfully under Maikel van der Vleuten and already produced the KWPN-approved stallion Hotspot. In addition, Hermione de la Pomme is the half-sister of Vagabond de la Pomme, as she is also a daughter of top mare Sauterelle de la Pomme.

Frederik Cattebeke and Caesar win the Grand Prix of Lier

Another Grand Prix victory for the Belgian Frederik Cattebeke and Caesar (Lucky Boy x Corland), who was sold at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag. The only nine-year-old gray took the victory in the two-star Grand Prix of Lier. This combination previously won the Grand Prix of Hasselt. A successful couple with a bright future ahead!

Foal Auction Prinsjesdag publishes veterinary reports

For the first time, potential buyers already have insight into the veterinary reports of the foals that will be auctioned during the Foal Auction Prinsjesdag on 13 and 14 September. The findings of the clinical examination by recognized veterinary surgeons can be found on the website www.prinsjesdag.eu. This makes Foal Auction Prinsjesdag the first auction in the Netherlands that goes one step further in openness.
“We do this to provide the best possible transparent picture of the auction foals. For each foal that we have selected, we believe that the accompanying report is good enough for him or her to be auctioned, taking into account that they are very young foals where a lot can still change in terms of development," says Arjan van der Waaij, chairman of the foal auction in Ermelo.

The jumping foals will be auctioned on Tuesday 13 September, the dressage foals on Wednesday 14 September. A new embryo has also been added to www.embryoauctions.com, a branch of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag. It is an embryo of For Romance (Fürst Romancier x Sir Donnerhall I) out of the half-sister of Desperados FRH, winner of individual bronze and team gold at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The online auction closes on August 28 at 8 p.m.

Bonne Chance CW and Janika Sprunger not start in Olympic individual final due to regulations

Although Bonne Chance CW and Janika Sprunger qualified for the Olympic individual final in Rio de Janeiro, the Swiss combination will not start. According to the regulations, only three riders per country are allowed to start in the final and because all four Swiss had finished on nine penalties, chef d'équipe Andy Kistler had to decide.

“With a great lap from Bonnie and me, we close the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro,” says Janika Sprunger. “I was so hoping for a spot in the final next Friday – for Kompi and for all the people who support us and believe in us. This was my biggest dream, my biggest goal! All Swiss riders finished on nine penalty points and Andy Kistler had to decide which three riders would go to the final. Bonne and I weren't here. A very difficult moment for us because Bonnie and I really deserved a chance in the final, but so did the other three!”

Matches Olympic finalists and Prinsjesdag collection striking

The bloodlines of the Olympic finalists in show jumping in Rio de Janeiro and the auction collection of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag have many similarities. For example, Prinsjesdag offers a colt out of the three-quarter sister of Dejavu (Bassem Hassan Mohammed), a filly out of the half-sister of Emerald (Harrie Smolders) and a colt out of the direct line of Bonne Chance CW (Janika Sprunger).

The colt foal Qui a Vu van 't Merelsnest is a genetically very striking specimen. His sire Vigo d'Arsouilles was the 2010 World Champion under Philippe Le Jeune and his dam is Lacoste van de Bucxtale – a daughter of the Heartbreaker son Zambesi. This makes Lacoste a three-quarter sister of the Heartbreaker son Dejavu, who convincingly qualified for the individual final of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro under Bassem Hassan Mohammed. Olympian Zilverstar T (Nicola Philippaerts) also comes from this direct dam line.
The filly is also unique quartina DC – a daughter of the foundation sire Comme Il Faut out of the Nabab de Rêve daughter Intense van 't Meulenhof. The mother of Quartina DC is none other than the half-sister of Emerald, who will compete with Harrie Smolders for individual medal of honor on Friday.
Levisto Blue RV Z is a colt by Levisto Z x Mr. Blue and is closely related to Janika Sprunger's topper Bonne Chance CW – also auctioned at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag. Levisto Blue's great-granddam Kalista – full sister of Audi's Jikke – is the granddam of Bonne Chance CW, who also qualified for the individual final. Unfortunately, Bonne Chance CW will not be allowed to start as three other Swiss riders were also qualified. According to the regulations, only three combinations per country are allowed to start in the final.

In addition, Foal Auction Prinsjesdag selected two offspring of Olympic finalists. The colt foal Vegas is a son of Maikel van der Vleutens two-time Olympian Verdi out of a Heartbreaker dam. Although things did not go as hoped for the Dutch team, Maikel van der Vleuten and Verdi did not miss a beat. With only two time errors, the foundation sire Verdi qualified for the Olympic final. Four years ago in London, Verdi also entered the last day without jumping errors. A very special colt is also Quest SZ – one of the very few descendants of the high-profile Quabri de l'Isle. The beautiful dark chestnut of Pedro Veniss jumped phenomenal every day in Rio and convincingly qualified for the battle for the individual medals.

With three offspring in the individual final, Cornet Obolensky and Kannan are the main suppliers in Rio de Janeiro. Foal Auction Prinsjesdag offers no fewer than five foals from Cornet Obolensky and two direct offspring from Kannan. Kannan is also represented several times in the dam line of the Prinsjesdag foals. In Barron (Lucy Davis) and Fit For Fun (Luciana Diniz) For Pleasure produces two direct offspring for the final and with Fine Lady (Eric Lamaze), First Choice (Yann Candele) and Fibonacci (Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum) three grandchildren. Prinsjesdag has included no fewer than four direct descendants of the legendary For Pleasure in its collection.

Emerald embryo from Tequila van Spieveld sold to Monaco

The exceptional embryo of Harrie Smolders' Olympian Emerald out of the top mare Tequila van Spieveld has been sold via Embryoauction.com to Team VDW Monte Carlo from Monaco. The half-sibling of, among others, Echo van 't Spieveld was turned down online for a nice amount of 17,000 euros.

Basson van der Westhuizen is the proud new owner of the embryo. “We are very excited about this purchase. It's a long-term investment, but we hope it pays off in the end. It would be wonderful if this embryo becomes as good as the siblings!”

The South African who lives in Monaco is also a breeder of sport horses. “In Argentina we have a breeding farm for warmbloods, but because the import legislation is quite strict there, you are limited with your breeding choices. That is why we now want to set up more breeding in Europe.” The ultimate goal with this exclusive embryo is the sport. “If all goes well, we hope that this Embro will grow into a good sport horse. In any case, we leave him or her in professional hands in Belgium or France," emphasizes Basson van der Westhuizen.

Hernandez TN and Zoï Snels spectacular third in Isah Cup for four-year-olds

Hernandez TN (Kannan x Numero Uno), who was sold at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag, finished third today under Zoï Snels in the Isah Cup for four-year-olds in Ermelo. The KWPN-approved stallion from the breeding of Prinsjesdag board member Willem Dekker jumped for a 9.0 and earned an 8.2 for going between the hurdles.

“Hernandez is just a machine! He jumped really spectacular today and impresses with his scope and caution”, rider Zoï Snels of Team Nijhof was enthusiastic. Jury members Henk van den Broek and Christian Sorensen were also full of praise: "Hernandez has a lot of scope and jumped impressively today."

Son of champion stallion Fürst William in collection Foal Auction Prinsjesdag

With no less than 92.00%, the spectacular Fürst William was declared champion of the four-year-old stallions at the World Championship for young dressage horses in Ermelo. Under the Spaniard Severo Jurado Lopez, the Fürst Wilhelm son scored a magical 10 for canter and 9.5 for harmony and talent. Foal Auction Prinsjesdag offers a colt by the top talent Fürst William on Wednesday 14 September.

The Limited Edition colt is a son of this movement artist Fürst William. Limited Edition is also bred out of the champion mare Vertu Héroique, a daughter of the foundation sire Gribaldi and Havidoff.
With convincing scores, the five-year-old stallions Governor, Grand Galaxy Win and Glamourdale qualified for the final of the World Championship for five-year-olds. Governor even finished fifth today under Adelinde Cornelissen with a score of 86,60%. Two daughters of Governor are included in the collection of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag, while the colt La Baule-STRH is a Millenium son out of Governor's half-sister. Grand Galaxy Win and Glamourdale both scored 84.00% and finished eighth. Grand Galaxy Win is represented by three descendants in the Prinsjesdag collection, while two sons of Glamourdale are included in the auction collection.
