Prinsjesdag toppers at the front of Grand Prix Doha and De Peelbergen

DOHA / KRONENBERG - Bonne Chance CW and Wimphof's Hinde once again kept the name of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag high at Grand Prix level last weekend. At the CSI5* show in Doha, the phenomenal chestnut Bonne Chance CW jumped to sixth place under Janika Sprunger, while Wimphof's Hinde and Marriët Hoekstra were third in the national 1.50m Grand Prix at Equestrian Center De Peelbergen.

Bonne Chance CW (Baloubet du Rouet x Cambridge) under Janika Sprunger belongs to the absolute world top after she won many Grand Prix last year, including the CSI5* Grand Prix of Falsterbo. The bronze team medalist of the European Championship in Aachen again showed her enormous qualities in Doha and took sixth place in the Grand Prix. Previously, Bonne Chance CW also finished in sixth place in the 1.50m of Doha.

In the national 1.50m Grand Prix at Equestrian Center De Peelbergen, Wimphof's Hinde (Berlin x Heartbreaker) finished in a handsome third place. The topper of Marriët Hoekstra has already shown enormous potential for the highest work in recent months and impressed with her debut in the CSI3* Grand Prix of Indoor Drachten. The third place at De Peelbergen is another nice confirmation of the potential of the breeding product of Haras de la Vie.

Embryo for sale from Glock's Zonik and Reine B

The online auction site Embryoauction.com, part of the National Foal Auction Prinsjesdag, has not yet finished auctioning genetically very interesting embryos. New to the website is an embryo by Glock's Zonik and the Grand Prix mare Reine B, who will change hands on March 13 at 8pm.

Glock's Zonik (Blue Hors Zack x Blue Horse Romanov) rocked Indoor Brabant and Jumping Amsterdam with his phenomenal performances under Edward Gal in the Small Tour and already achieved more than 80%. The dam of the foal expected at the beginning of May is the Grand Prix mare Reine B (by Rubinstein) ridden by Peter Bleeker.

Anyone who knows this mare line knows that it produces numerous (inter)nationally successful dressage horses. In 2006, the Oldenburg branded State Premium and Elite mare Reine B produced via embryo transfer the Small Tour and AES approved stallion Brennus B (Diamond Hit), who was also ridden by Lotje Schoots. Reine won medals one after another with Schoots at (inter)national championships for juniors and young riders and rose to the highest level. Her daughter Fille de Reine B (Jazz) passed her IBOP in 2014 with 80.5 points.

Reine B is a full sister of the ZZ-Zwaar dressage horse Julia B and a half-sister of the Small Tour dressage horses Urchin B and Inca and a Z1 horse. They come out of the Z2-dressage mare Dola (Vincent), who is also grandam of the ZZ-heavy classified Windsor B, the ZZ-Licht dressage horse Zenobia B and four Z1/Z2 horses. Closely related are the Small Tour horses Tsarina B and Zeno B and the Grand Prix dressage horse Navarro.

Arc de Triomphe and Alicante impress at Jumping Amsterdam

Arc de Triomphe and Alicante impress at Jumping Amsterdam

AMSTERDAM - Two horses auctioned at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag, both born in 2005, jumped fantastic last weekend in the tough classes of Jumping Amsterdam. Arc de Triomphe showed his enormous abilities under Frank Schuttert, while Alicante showed enormous potential with Jérôme Guery.

After a strong performance in the 1.45m on Friday evening, Frank Schuttert chose to start the Arc de Triomphe (Triomphe de Muze x Calvados) bred by the Van Straaten family in the CSI4* Grand Prix of Amsterdam. For the highly successful Arc de Triomphe, this was his first appearance in a four-star Grand Prix. The son of Triomphe de Muze showed his enormous scope and quality, but now got two more minor faults. We will be hearing a lot more from Frank Schuttert and Arc de Triomphe this year!

Under the Belgian top rider Jérôme Guery, Alicante (Casall x Indoctro) – bred by Stoeterij 't Maalwater – also made an excellent impression in the RAI. Besides excellent performances in the 1.40m on Friday and the 1.45m on Sunday, Alicante impressed in the 1.50m on Saturday evening. Alicante showed enormous potential in the prestigious 1.50m YACHT Prize in front of sold-out stands. The brand new combination then got one more jumping fault, but Jérôme Guery and Alicante left a promising impression!

Bonne Chance CW once again proves class in Zurich

Bonne Chance CW once again proves class in Zurich

ZURICH - Bonne Chance CW showed her worth again last weekend for its own Swiss audience at the five-star competition in Zurich. The Baloubet du Rouet daughter, who was auctioned at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag, was not entered in the Grand Prix by Janika Sprunger, but did jump well with one in the secondary classes.

Bonne Chance CW (Baloubet du Rouet x Cambridge) already started the competition with a nice sixth place in a 1.45m class, before finishing in the prizes again a day later in the 1.50m class. Bonne Chance CW is once again in good shape for 2016!

Nineteen-year-old Pablo makes dreams come true for Ava MacCoubrey

Pablo
WELLINGTON - A dream has come true for fourteen-year-old Canadian rider Ava MacCoubrey now that she has started in Wellington with Pablo. With the now nineteen-year-old Pablo, Ava MacCoubrey started in the international dressage junior classes and grabbed a victory and a second place.

Pablo (Cordial Medoc x Voltaire), who was sold at the Foal Auction Prinsjesdag in 1997, made a dream come true for the fourteen-year-old Ava MacCoubrey. Thanks to the proceeds from a fundraising, the Canadian was able to start in Wellington. Ava MacCoubrey does not come from a horse family, but her parents do everything they can to give her opportunities in dressage. “I have three jobs to pay for her horseback riding,” Ava's mother says. “But I like to do that!”

Pablo and Ava MacCoubrey's 2016 goal is to represent the Ontario junior team in Kentucky this July. With scores of 65.72 percent and 65.55 percent respectively and a win and second place in Wellington, Ava and Pablo seem on the right track!

Top talent Heavy Metal through to third phase BWP

Heavy-Metal1
LIER - The four-year-old Heavy Metal earned a ticket for the third phase of the BWP Stallion Inspection last Saturday. Last year this son of Eldorado van de Zeshoek out of the full sister of the famous Tyson came out on top at the sBs Stallion Inspection. As a foal, Heavy Metal also proved to be an eye-catcher and he was auctioned at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag.

Heavy Metal also impressed at the BWP Stallion Inspection with his great reflexes, impulsion and scope. Heavy Metal is a typical product of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag; in addition to his handsome model and strong movements, Heavy Metal comes from a pure performance tribe. His dam Whisper Queen is none other than the full sister of Leon Thijssen's longtime topper Tyson. Breeders Evert Meijer and Gerard Lindeboom have already auctioned many foals from this top line, including three foals from Whisper Queen, six foals from Kickyqueen – Tyson's dam – and many others.

In addition to Heavy Metal, horses such as the KWPN-approved Edinburgh and the internationally successful This Lux also grew into extremely successful products from the Meijer – Lindeboom breeder combination, auctioned on Prinsjesdag. Heavy Metal seems to have what it takes to follow in the footsteps of its famous relatives Tyson, Nirvana, This Lux, Tadmus and Edinburgh.

Foal Auction Prinsjesdag congratulates owner Krismar Stables and breeders Evert Meijer and Gerard Lindeboom on the great successes of Heavy Metal!

Rousseau earns 'Keur' predicate at KWPN

Rousseau
DEN BOSCH - Next week at the KWPN Stallion Inspection in Den Bosch, an old acquaintance of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag will be honored: the now eighteen-year-old Rousseau. This Ferro son is approved by numerous studbooks, including the KWPN, and is famous for his many well-performing offspring. In Den Bosch, Rousseau will receive his well-deserved 'Keur' predicate from the KWPN.

In 1998 Rousseau (Ferro x Roemer) came up for auction at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag and now eighteen years later he is a real celebrity. Rousseau came into American hands via the KWPN Select Sale in 2000 and he has been at stud in the United States since 2006. Rousseau produced many approved stallions and successful Grand Prix dressage horses, including the KWPN-approved Ampère, the foundation sire Blue Hors Zack, Patrick van der Meer's new A-frame horse Zippo and other successful Grand Prix horses such as Watoeschi, Wilco V, Eventz Zamacho and Harmony's fiorano.

Edinburgh takes victory Stallion Competition Zuidbroek

Edinburgh takes victory Stallion Competition Zuidbroek

ZUIDBROEK - The KWPN-approved Edinburgh 'finally' took the victory in the Blom Stallion Competition in Zuidbroek. Edinburgh and Kristian Houwen were in third place in both Ermelo and Roosendaal, but in Zuidbroek they crowned their potential with a victory. Edinburgh was auctioned in 2009 at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag.

Breeders Evert Meijer and Gerard Lindeboom from Dalfsen bred Edinburgh – son of Vleut out of the Darco daughter Olympic Queen. Loyal investor on Prinsjesdag Jos Althuijzen purchased the Vleut son at the foal auction and now co-owns Tyson's extremely talented cousin with Jos Houwen. Both at the age of four and five, Edinburgh won the KNHS/KWPN Stallion Competition under Kristian Houwen and Edinburgh will once again enter the final competition in Den Bosch as one of the favorites this year. It is also striking that Edinburgh won the stallion competition in Zuidbroek in both 2014 and 2015!
“It was about time again”, laughed Kristian Houwen after his victory with Edinburgh. "It's great that Edinburgh has won here again, it's a great collaborator."

Foal Auction Prinsjesdag congratulates the breeders Gerard Lindeboom and Evert Meijer, the rider Kristian Houwen and the owners Jos Althuijzen and Jos Houwen with this great result!
