Looking back at successful auctions in 2019

The auctions are behind us for a while, but December is a perfect time to look back at the successful Foal Auction Prinsjesdag days. At the regular auction in Ermelo, Olympic rider Cian O'Connor invested in the auction topper Orange Peel van 't Studutch and the average price of the jumping foals broke the magic 15,000 limit.

At the auction of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag during the CSI Ommen, the season kicked off with ten jumping foals that yielded an average of €12,500. O'Pleasure Ice (by For Pleasure), bred by Ton van Tilburg, turned out to be an auction topper thanks to a price of €19,000 and has come into German hands.

Ermelo

There was also great international interest at the show jumping foal auction in Ermelo. Buyers from countries such as Sweden, Italy, America, Great Britain, Denmark, Ireland and South Africa made their mark. Olympic top rider Cian O'Connor made several investments in the future, and several foals are leaving for Ireland, including the excellent auction topper Orange Peel van 't Studutch. This colt by For Pleasure out of the full sister of Quickly de Kreisker underlines the motto 'The power of performance' in a fantastic way and delivered the record price of € 70,000. “It is very nice to be able to look back on such a successful auction, where not only clear outliers emerged in height, but also the quality in width and the high average of more than 15,000 euros. This proves that our vision is the right one. Excellent foals with a good canter, a good exterior and a lot of sport in the maternal lines. Our auction has shown that such foals are very well paid," said chairman Arjan van der Waaij enthusiastically.

Dressage

Among the dressage foals, the Desperados FRH son O'Neil T (ds.Vivaldi, breeder J. Tissingh) took the crown with a handsome amount of €40,000. He is therefore one of the striking future talents who is leaving for a top stable. Leading buyers from Denmark, America, Germany, the Arab Emirates and Singapore also found their way to Foal Auction Prinsjesdag and registered foals. On average, the foals came in at more than € 10,300. “In the current market we are very satisfied with the way the auction and the prices went. We had no extreme outliers and still achieved almost the same average as last year," says chairman Arjan van der Waaij. “We had a great audience, good dressage foals and generally good prices. So that is definitely satisfying. We look back on two wonderful auction days. With the jumping foals, all our expectations were exceeded and with the dressage foals we were able to maintain our strong position as an auction," concludes Van der Waaij.
