Traditionally, the Foal Auction Prinsjesdag is on the agenda on the third Tuesday of September, and so it was today. No fewer than 78 foals were auctioned by auctioneer Koen Olaerts, who managed to sell the foals quickly. Fynch Hatton son Ultravox was the absolute auction topper of the 33e edition. For 44,000 euros, Joop van Uytert, Nico Witte and Tim Coomans joined forces.
This means that this colt, who comes from the direct dam line of the stallion Ampère, who is approved for several studbooks, will remain in the Netherlands. The same trio also invested in Uvano VDS. This son of For Ferrero was sold for 26,000 euros.
Show jumping mares in demand
The most expensive show jumping foal of the auction was Jenny KCX Berghoeve Z (by Jaguar van de Berghoeve). This filly comes from one of the best show jumping lineages in the world, namely that of Qerly Chin. She brought in 19,000 euros and will go to Belgian clients. The mother of Uricas van de Kattevennen daughter Ursa D'Argilla, performed at 5* level herself. Her daughter brought in 18,000 euros tonight and was sold online to a German client.
14,000 euros for the Hair Wish Foundation
Of course, there was also attention for a good cause tonight. This year it was Stichting Haarwensen. Thanks to various bidders from the audience, a wonderful amount of 14,000 euros was reached. The stakes were two coverings of the stallion Comthago VDL, made available by VDL Stud and a dinner for eight people at Restaurant De Gezellig from Leusden.
Average 10,000 euros
The board and the organization would like to thank all breeders, bidders and buyers for their confidence in the auction. On average, the foals sold brought in more than 10,000 euros.
