Foal Auction Prinsjesdag breaks open online market with bidding system
On September 11 and 12, customers of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag will be able to bid via the internet. “Nothing new under the sun” some may think. But they are wrong. The bidding system works without any delay, which is unique in the world of online auctions.
The technology was developed by it company WeAuction for the real estate market, where online bidding at hall auctions is now well established. Director Paul Rijk explains; “We are convinced that for a successful online auction system you have to transfer the experience from the hall to the online users. We do this by making the sound of the auctioneer leading. Delay on the line has always been the problem when trying to combine online and real-time auctions. The images of the live stream are always a few seconds behind what is happening in the room at that moment. With our system, that delay is virtually non-existent. In this way, customers really have just as much chance online as people in the room.”
Automatic bidding (also called Robot bidding) is not possible with the system. Empire; “No, that is very conscious. Bidders decide on the basis of the live images whether they want to bid. Like people in the room, they can anticipate what they see and hear. When a bid is placed online, the room can immediately see who it comes from on the screen.” This creates a battle between bidders via the internet and the venue.
Huge track record
With more than 10,000 sold objects with a total value of more than 1.3 billion, the company is no longer a newcomer. At the company's auctions,
meanwhile an average of 39% of the items sold to online bidders. “We started with real estate auctions in 2008, but we have now successfully completed a number of foreign foal and horse auctions. We strive to offer the fastest and most reliable bidding system in the world.
If you decide not to come to the room, you need to be able to trust that the bidding system works so that you don't miss anything. I predict that the combination of online and offline auctions is the future.”
From the real estate world
Foal Auction Prinsjesdag chairman Arjan van der Waaij; “Times change and our auction aims to remain innovative. This system is very easy to use. It is clear and transparent. All the information we need from buyers is registered and different bidders can easily bid on a foal at the same time.”
Interested parties can register via the website of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag. When they have been approved by the organization, they can log in via the site. The system works on any phone, tablet or PC with a good internet connection. A helpdesk is available on both auction days to answer questions about the system.
