Athletes make their move in Ommen
During the first edition of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag during CSI Ommen, nine jumping foals were auctioned tonight. Under the inspiring leadership of auctioneer Ernesto Conseco, a total of €95,500 was spent in Stegeren. This brought the average selling price to €10,611.
Show jumping rider Lucas Porter bought the charming Quabri de l'Isle offspring Qualibrie. SZ. Porter: “I'm very happy with him. It looks like a very sharp and careful foal. We immediately noticed this in the presentation, he jumped over a shadow on the ground. And he is fantastically bred. With a super sire out of a mare from the direct line of one of my best horses ever: B Once Z. In short, he met all our requirements! We have another foal this year, it would be nice if the two could grow up together.”
Auction topper Badr (by Balou du Rouet x Zambesi) entered the arena as second last. The colt from the dam line of Van Schijndel's Now or Never and It's the Business was sold for €16,000.
President of the Budget Day, Arjan van der Waaij, about the first edition of the auction in Stegeren: “We are pleased that the entrants proved loyal to our auction and wanted to participate in this initiative. Most of the foals were bought by sports people. This is great for the breeders, because that way their breeding products reach the right people directly. We will most likely see them again in the international show jumping ring.”
The next editions of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag will take place on 11 and 12 September at the National Equestrian Center in Ermelo.
