Records were also broken on the second day of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag. With an average of €12,725, the dressage foals scored excellent in width, with Marilyn-Dine (by Daily Diamond) being a fantastic outlier with €70,000. A surprising number of new buyers made their mark during the 25th edition of the auction.
The average price was almost €1,800 higher than last year. “A fantastic result, just like yesterday with the jumping foals a nice increase compared to the year before. The differences were a bit bigger today than with the jumping foals, but we were again very satisfied buyers and sellers, and that's what we do it for”, chairman Arjan van der Waaij looks back on another very successful evening. The majority of the foals remain in the Netherlands, a striking part of which was purchased by new buyers. “Prinsjesdag Foal Auction has built up a great reputation over the years and that, together with a very strong foal collection, has brought many new people to the auction. The fact that they were able to succeed very well tonight is an extra nice compliment.”
Dreamed edition
The most expensive foal turned out to be the controversial Daily Diamond daughter Marilyn-Dine, which was purchased by the Lemmens family from RS2 Dressage for €70,000. With trainer Hans Bernoski as advisor, these interesting colts were purchased for their bee. The Juniors riding daughter Laura Among the many new buyers was the American Robert Lindholm, the sponsor of the Olympic rider Laura Graves, who bought three very talented foals over the phone, among them the strong-moving Totilas son Murano van de Moerhoek (€17,000) and the eye-catcher Monet (by Glock's Toto Jr.) The Franklin offspring also proved particularly popular, as colt Milano (ds.Jazz) fetched €42,000 and filly Mi Amore VE was sold for €32,000. "As an organization we are 100% satisfied with both today and yesterday. Both days we managed to realize a considerable increase in the average price, the foals were all in good shape, there was a large audience and lots of new buyers. A dreamed anniversary edition!”, says Van der Waaij.
